Mothers Day in DTLA

Two of my favorite DTLA restaurants to take your vaccinated Mother for brunch

Redbird is located at the beautiful Vibiana in DTLAs Historic Core

With the increase in vaccinations and the slowing of infection rates in Los Angeles, the city is  experiencing a gradual awakening. Our extended isolation beginning to ease, provides a great opportunity to connect with family and friends. Sunday May 9th is Mothers Day and the perfect time to take your vaccinated mom out to a beautiful Mothers Day brunch and bring some sweetness to her life.

Two of my favorite DTLA restaurants are serving a Mothers Day brunch, Redbird at Vibiana and Manuela at Hauser Wirth. Of course, all Covid safety porotocols will accompany the exceptional food. It’s Spring in Southern California so the weather should be fine for outdoor dining. Both restaurants provide a lovely atmosphere to celebrate Mom.

Redbird has increased their outdoor space and followed all protocols for inside dining as well. Be sure to specify the desired seating location when you make your reservation. Redbirds chef Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll Fraser’s flagship restaurant features Modern American cuisine that is refined yet approachable and highlights the multi-cultural influences of Fraser’s native city – Los Angeles. They are offering a curated Sunday brunch and dinner menu exclusivly for Mothers Day.

Located in downtown Los Angeles, Redbird is carved into one of the city’s most historic architectural gems, inside the former rectory building of Vibiana – the cathedral-turned-event-venue. Classic and tastefully restored. It is a beautiful setting to show your Mother just how much you appreciate her.

Mom’s an Art lover? Then Manuela located at Hauser Wirth in the Arts District is perfect.

Located in the Arts District of Los Angeles, Manuela unites chef, farmer and artist to create an authentic and original dining experience. Under the direction of Executive Chef Kris Tominaga, the menu celebrates seasonal ingredients sourced from the best farms and producers in Southern California.

Designed by Los Angeles native Matt Winter and named for Manuela Wirth, the restaurant is illuminated and animated by specially commissioned works from artists Paul McCarthy, Mark Bradford and Raymond Pettibon. It is in the central courtyard of Hauser Wirth, a contemporary art gallery in the restored Globe Mills complex, a collection of interconnected late 19th- and early 20th century-buildings and internal outdoor spaces. Manuela is serving extended Mothers Day Brunch from 10-4 reservations required and selling out quickly.

Let’s celebrate our Moms, many of whom have taken on additional burdens created by the pandemic, and support our local restaurants too. It’s a win-win we can really celebrate.
