The Opportunity

Azero is raising steelhead– a native species unfamiliar to many North American chefs and diners. Grown in the strong, clean currents off Ensenada, their process is more sustainable and their product more flavorful. But first, people needed to understand what made it different– and why it matters.

Brand Positioning

We anchored the brand in a core idea: the current. The literal current of Baja’s waters strengthens the fish and sustains the ecosystem. The cultural current reflects changing values– toward sustainability, transparency, and better flavor. Azero is leading both. We developed a brand story, values, promise, and tone that blend their innovative spirit with a sense of place, time, and heart.

Naming

 

The name “Azero” evokes acero, the Spanish word for steel, while nodding to the brand’s zero-emissions, zero-impact aspirations. We needed a name that was highly available and would work for both English and Spanish speaking audiences. It’s lean, strong, and immediately memorable.

Identity Design

The identity blends elevated design with handcrafted touches, reflecting both the forward thinking intelligence of the company and the raw beauty of Ensenada.
It’s polished meets practical, elegant meets elemental, with a strong orange palette that ties back to the color of the fish.

Photography

We traveled to Ensenada to capture the story firsthand, from ocean farms to kitchen plates. Chefs, fishermen, the Baja coastline, and the fish itself all come together in an image library that’s as honest and striking as the product.
